The fluid mechanics research group is devoted to perform research in a wide variety of areas based on theoretical, experimental and numerical techniques. The research not only ranges from fundamental to conceptual and applied science but also covers full scales, down to micro scales to understanding, predicting and controlling flows. Current research subjects and tools are as follow:

- Multiphysics, multiphase flow problems. Plasma simulation.
- Micro/Nanofluidics, Electrokinetics
- Turbulent combustion, combustion instability, IC/GT/Rocket engine combustion
- Turbulent flow, flow control, fluid-structure interaction problem
Support for research in fluid mechanics comes from several sources such as NRF, MPSS, MSIP, MOTIE as well as private companies.
